SV4b V33 at Zaventem

Postby LaurentH » 29 Mar 2008, 16:09

Dear all,

On Tuesday March 25th I was at Brussels Airport and noted that the SV4b V33 is no longer hanging from the ceiling in the departure area.

The previous time I was there on March 13th it still was, does anybody know the exact day that the aircraft was removed ?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Best regards,

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

V-33 was removed from the Zaventem main hall on request of the Brussels Airport authorities. The best sold Belgian aircraft design must have displeased to some or other person who doesn't have a clue of what the history of Belgian aviation is about. Although the same "professionals" promised the aircraft to the Stampe & Vertongen Museum, they forgot one minor detail in that V-33 is still owned by the Royal Army Museum who promptly collected the machine and brought it back to the museum at Brussels. It was still sitting there this morning.
Unfortunately, I forgot to note the date of the transport but will check it out next week.

Best regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniël,

Yes, it's true that Brussels Airport is really 'spotter friendly' or interested in it's own history.

I was already surprised that V33 would go to Antwerp, because in May 2007 I also heard that V28 (currently in Vissenaken) would go there as well. I don't know if this was true however.

I hope that the V33 gets a suitable home in the future.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Best regads,

Laurent
